Choosing the right fence for your project can be difficult if you don’t have much experience fencing a property. Fortunately, we’ve covered everything you need to know about the various types of fencing. Otherwise, if you want to do all of the research yourself, that’s fine. Welded wire mesh is an excellent and popular choice due to its ease of use, low maintenance, and protective properties. Many of our customers, some of whom have extensive experience in landscape fencing and others who have none, choose metal fences because they work so well for what a metal mesh fence needs to do: provide security.
History of wire fence:
The wire itself was invented around 2,000 years ago in Egypt copper, silver, or gold wire. Drawn wire, which resembles modern fencing, was invented around 1450 in Augsburg, Germany. After the invention of the first wire fence was unclear, but used in the United States around 1867 by farmers fencing their cattle after LBSmith of Ohio invented a metal mesh fence made of a material similar to barbed wire.
Previously, building fences, such as wooden fences, required a significant investment on the part of farmers, and the costs were frequently as high as the livestock itself. Metal fences were less likely to be trampled, allowed more land to farm, and improved livestock control.
Uses of wire fence:
Welded wire fencing is ideal for any property that requires security. Welded wire fences are also popular due to the ease they can be seen through, allowing homeowners to be aware of any intruders. They are popular because it is difficult to see the fence itself, and many homeowners with welded wire fences in the forest will mark the metal fence with flags, so the deer know it is here. Zoos and national borders, such as those in Europe, are popular locations for welded wire fences.
Wire mesh fences are ideal for securing commercial and public properties, but they are also appropriate for residential properties. Many residential customers have purchased welded wire fencing to mark their property lines and keep pets and unwanted visitors out. Other places were metal fences, particularly welded metal fences. They are around public buildings that require high-security devices, such as prisons, national borders, parks, and nature reserves.
